Dear Juno and anyone else who may find yourself in this situation,
My name is Danyella Thrall, I am a senior at Foothill Technology High School and I have the utmost respect for you and your desicion. Life is a precious thing, and the most amazing thing we are given in this life is freedom, and choice. By the Roe v. Wade case and the Fourteenth Amendment you are given that right to your choice and your body’s privacy.
I know everyone is looking down on you, and are feeling disappointed by your actions. You must have known that your sexual actions could lead to a child, and I am sorry to say it, but you are foolish to have thought otherwise. There are various ways you could have prevented this mistake. If you were not properly educated about sexual activity and its consequences, I am sorry. Just as much as a parent or guardian in your life should have been responsible for educating you, you could have taken actions to educate yourself by talking to a school nurse, or health teacher, or even going to your local clinic for information and contraceptives.
I understand that being pregnant young is frightening, and I am sure you feel scared. I am sure you feel pressured, and you are worried, but I promise that there is a positive to this unfortunate situation. You have the choice to bring another life into this world, or to continue on with your without this child. But before you make this decision I think you should take into consideration the options and facts.
The Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects you, your privacy and your choice. If you choose to have an abortion, the laws will protect that choice. Also, the Roe v. Wade case legalizing abortion, is what will allow your choice to be followed through with. Abortion is a serious topic, and I beg of you, that if this is your choice, you will abort the fetus as a very early stage, early into the first trimester. Much after that, the fetus begins to grow more into a infant each passing day.
As I said before I respect any decision you make. If you choose to carry this baby to term, but you are not ready to be a mother, that is one hundred percent okay. There are many families throughout the United States that would love to be the loving parents to your baby. Adoption is always an option, and if you are afraid that you are unable to provide a stable life for your baby, there is a family out there who will be able give your baby the life you feel like it deserves.
I know that if it were me in this position I would honestly not know what I would do. I am in no position to be a mother, and no where capable to be a perfect mother. I honestly think that I would carry the baby to term, and try to be the best mother that I am capable of being. I hope that you know when you make your decision, which ever it may be, that there will be people who support you no matter what you decide, whether to abort, keep or allowing your baby to be adopted. I support which ever choice you make, for your body is yours and you have the right to your decision. I pray that the consequences of your actions will have a serious, and life changing effect on your future actions.
